United States made history by defeating Bangladesh by 6 runs in the second T20I in Houston
Rishad Hossain-Mostafizur Rahman's bowling allowed Bangladesh to limit the United States to 144 runs. Their batsmen did not get rhythm in batting in this match as they chased the target. The top order batsmen could not come out of the shell in this match as well. The middle order and lower order did not have a big innings today. They have lost 6 wickets in the last 32 runs.
12 runs were needed in the last over to win. The wicket was also one. Rishad Hossain returned the last wicket by catching Monak Patel off Ali Khan. Bangladesh's innings stopped at 138 runs in 19.3 overs.
After losing the first T20 match, the Bangladesh team went completely defensive in the second match. They did not show the courage to win the toss and decide to bat against a team like USA. After the bad loss in the first match, the team management did not keep Liton Das in the XI. It can be said that coach Chandika Hathurusinghe did not want to take any risk in the match to save the series.
Bangladesh did not benefit from the change in the opening. Soumya Sarkar hit the 'golden duck' on the fourth ball of the first over and returned to the dressing room. Tanjid Hasan Tamim, back in Liton's place, was in great form. He was batting very comfortably. Bowled by spinner Jasdeep Singh in the fifth over after missing the line of the ball. The left-handed batsman returned for 20 runs off 15 balls.
Shanto and Tawhid Hriday's partnership of 48 runs for the third wicket made Bangladesh handle the initial shock. Shanto has been struggling for runs for several matches. His T20 strike rate was also criticized. He struggled a lot in this match as well. He got run out for 36 runs off 34 balls in batting like ODI after settling down. Shakib Al Hasan batted a bit aggressively batting at number 5.
In this, Hridoy also returned with 25 runs off 21 balls. Then Mahmudullah Riyad 3, Zaker Ali Anik 4 runs and Shakib 30 runs off 23 balls, the fear of defeat arose. The lower order could not play any role in that way, as a result, defeat was written next to the name of Bangladesh. USA's Ali Khan took 3 wickets, Saurabh Netrawalkar and Shedley von Schlockwick took 2 wickets each.
Playing with two pacers in the first match, Bangladesh team suffered from death over bowling. Mahmudullah Riyad had to take the ball in the end. In the second match, the visitors kept Mustafizur Rahman and Shariful Islam along with Tanzim Hasan Shakib. Spinner Sheikh Mehdi Hasan dropped out. Despite changing the bowling attack, Bangladesh did not get the benefit in the beginning. USA scored 42 runs without losing a wicket in the power-play. In the next over of the power-play, however, relief returned to the visitors.
Although the first two overs were played carefully, the two American openers, Steven Taylor and Monak Patel, started aggressive batting from the third over. After losing two wickets for 44 runs, the hosts turned around. Monak made an effective partnership of 60 runs with Aaron Jones for the third wicket. Thanks to which USA's score is 143. Patel 42 and Jones returned 35 runs. Rishad, Mustafiz and Shariful took 2 wickets each for Bangladesh.
