Shakib Al Hasan Confirms Early Availability for BPL Kickoff
There were concerns regarding Shakib Al Hasan's participation at the start of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) due to his previous eye problems during the last ODI World Cup. Shakib traveled to London on January 14 for an eye examination, leading to speculation that Rangpur Riders might miss him at the beginning of the BPL.
However, those concerns have been laid to rest as Shakib is set to be available for Rangpur Riders right from the start of the BPL. The Bangladesh captain himself confirmed this news in a video message shared by the franchise on social media after completing his doctor's examination in London.
Expressing his readiness to play in the BPL from the first match, Shakib stated, "Yes, everything is fine. Doctor's examination completed. Now the flight back. Hope there will be no problem. I can play for Rangpur from the first match."
Before his departure to London, Shakib practiced wearing glasses during the camp in Rangpur. The BPL is scheduled to commence with the Dhaka-Comilla Victorians clash, followed by a match between Chittagong Challengers and Sylhet Strikers on the same day. Rangpur Riders will take the field for their first match against Fortune Barisal on January 20.
