Mustafizur Rahman Secures a Spot in Chennai Super Kings for Two Crore Rupees
Mustafizur Rahman harbored concerns about his form affecting his chances in the 2024 IPL auction in Dubai. As the auction progressed until 8 pm, there was a lingering doubt that no Bangladeshi cricketer would be called, raising the specter of an empty representation from Bangladesh in this edition.
However, Mustafizur's apprehensions were laid to rest when he was successfully picked by Chennai Super Kings for a notable sum of Rs 2 crore. This marks the left-handed pacer's fifth stint in the IPL, having previously played for Delhi, Rajasthan, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. Notably, he was recognized as the best emerging player in his debut IPL season in 2016.
In this auction, Mustafizur's base price was set at 2 crore rupees, and Chennai, led by Dhoni, secured him at this starting amount. In the previous edition, Mustafizur faced challenges obtaining a no-objection letter from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) due to his busy international cricket schedule.
The 2024 IPL is anticipated to take place from late March to May. In April, Bangladesh is scheduled to host a Test and Twenty20 series against Zimbabwe. Given Mustafizur's usual absence from Test matches, he may be required to join the team for a brief period to participate in the T20 series. Overall, Chennai Super Kings likely acquired him with assurances from Mustafizur, considering his availability and commitment.
