"Taskin Ahmed Faces Uncertainty in New Zealand Tour and BPL Due to Lingering Shoulder Injury"
Taskin Ahmed's participation in the upcoming New Zealand tour and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is shrouded in uncertainty due to a persistent shoulder injury. Despite grappling with the long-standing shoulder issue, Taskin continued to play matches, even necessitating periods of rest during the World Cup. Consequently, he was omitted from the Test series against New Zealand on home soil.
The uncertainty surrounding Taskin's availability extends to the New Zealand tour scheduled for December and the BPL. The Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) medical department has indicated that Taskin's shoulder injury requires an extended recovery period.
BCB chief doctor Debashish Chowdhury explained the decision to keep Taskin away from bowling for an extended period, stating, "Taskin's shoulder continues to experience recurrent pain. We have decided to keep him away from bowling for an extended duration, considering his overall career. While he is presently capable of bowling, we are making this decision with a long-term perspective on his career."
It appears that Taskin may be sidelined until the next edition of the BPL, as hinted by Dr. Debashish. He revealed, "At times, he has had to rely on painkillers, and there are concerns about the speed of his deliveries. Our objective is to facilitate a complete recovery, and he will be refraining from bowling for a four-week period. Our primary goal is to have him fully fit before the commencement of the BPL."
