Babar is the captain again
Babar Azam quit the captaincy of Pakistan due to failure in ODI World Cup. Then Shan Masood was made captain of the red ball, Shaheen Afridi of the white ball. He has already led the team in a series. However, after a series of disappointments, he was removed from the post. There are rumors that Babar may be handed back the captaincy again ahead of the T20 World Cup.
This information has been confirmed by Geo Sports on the basis of the selection committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board. After the meeting with PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, the selection committee has finalized the decision.
According to sources, Babar will perform this duty in the upcoming five-match T20 series against New Zealand. The selection committee unanimously told PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi that Babar Azam should be given the captaincy of T20 cricket.
Meanwhile, Shaheen was thinking about leaving the T20 captaincy. But sources close to the pacer have advised him against it as the appointment of captain is the cricket board's prerogative and he should accept whatever the PCB decides.
Babar was previously appointed white-ball captain in 2019 and Test captain in 2020, but Pakistan did not win an ICC or Asia Cup title under his leadership.
