Taskin Ahmed Expresses Disappointment Over Missing IPL Opportunities
Pacer Taskin Ahmed, not fully fit during the World Cup, laments not being able to contribute fully to Bangladesh's campaign. Despite ongoing rehabilitation, Taskin reveals his disappointment at not receiving clearance from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL), a missed opportunity he feels "a bit bad" about.
In a media statement, Taskin highlights the desire of every player to participate in various franchise leagues, expressing regret over missing out on the IPL and similar opportunities. The BCB's strict stance, primarily due to Taskin's injury history, has also affected another pacer, Shariful Islam, who was also denied permission to join the IPL.
While Taskin acknowledges the board's concerns related to sports and health issues, he hopes for reconsideration in the future, emphasizing his eagerness to participate in franchise leagues. Mustafizur Rahman is the sole player from Bangladesh granted clearance, being picked by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 2 crore.
Despite these setbacks, Taskin is optimistic about a return to the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after successfully addressing his shoulder problem. He shares his commitment to regaining full fitness and aims to kickstart the new year with a positive BPL campaign.
Working diligently towards his comeback, Taskin has resumed bowling with a full run-up and reports feeling better than before. With over two weeks remaining for the BPL, he targets a successful return to action, considering the league as his immediate focus.
