Nahida Akhtar Clinches ICC Women's Player of the Month for November
In a historic achievement, spinner Nahida Akhtar's stellar performance against Pakistan in the T20 series has earned her the prestigious title of ICC Women's Player of the Month for November. Nahida's outstanding spin played a pivotal role in Bangladesh's victory in the series, marking her as the first Bangladeshi woman cricketer to receive this accolade.
Nahida faced tough competition in the race for November's Player of the Month, with Bangladesh's Farzana Haque Picking as her fellow contender. The nominees also included Pakistan's Sadia Iqbal, highlighting the impressive representation of Bangladeshi cricketers in the nomination lineup.
Expressing her joy, Nahida remarked, "I want to celebrate this moment. Being recognized by such a distinguished panel of cricketing experts and earning the title of ICC Women's Cricketer of the Month is truly a remarkable feeling. This achievement will serve as both inspiration and a pathway forward for me."
Acknowledging the collective effort of the team, Nahida added, "We have been playing exceptional cricket recently, and I am delighted to have contributed to the team's success in various tests. I extend my heartfelt thanks to my captain, coach, and teammates for their belief in me."
This recognition follows the nomination of Nigar Sultana Jyoti as the best player of the month for October last year, although she did not secure the award in the end, facing competition from Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandana. Nahida's achievement stands as a testament to Bangladesh's growing prowess in women's cricket on the international stage.
