Tamim's regret of not being able to go to the BPL trophy unveiling
As an unwritten rule, the two captains of the two teams are present at the photo session of the final. But Comilla Victorians captain Liton Das and Fortune Barisal captain Tamim Iqbal did not participate in the photo session. However, Tamim regretted not being able to go to the unveiling of the trophy.
He wrote on social media, 'BCB chose a wonderful place today to host the trophy unveiling before the BPL final. But I couldn't go there, for that I apologize to BCB, BPL Governing Council and all the fans of Bangladesh Cricket. It was certainly my duty as captain to be in such an arrangement.'
Tamim explained the reason for not being able to go, 'but we played the qualifier match last night. After completing all the formalities at the end of the match, it was late for us to return to the hotel. Then there were special arrangements from the team to celebrate the joy of reaching the final. Besides, I had some extra busyness as captain. I am very late in finishing everything. It was not possible for me to leave the hotel at 8:30 in the morning. As the place is a historical structure, there was some obligation to organize the unveiling of the trophy at that particular time.'
Tamim also said, 'I personally have always valued the BPL a lot and tried to elevate this tournament. Never wanted to diminish this tournament in any way. If I get a chance to do something for BPL, I will try my best to come forward in future. But in today's situation I had no choice and for that I apologize again.'
