Former national team captain Tamim Iqbal has generously provided new bats to members of the Bangladesh U-19 cricket team ahead of the upcoming World Cup. The youngsters, fresh off their victory in the Asia Cup, received the bats during a practice session at the academy ground.
Tamim, in collaboration with a bat manufacturing company, facilitated the acquisition of these bats for the U-19 team. Despite the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) providing necessary materials, including bats, Tamim's contribution ensures the team has access to higher-quality equipment.
The initiative was undertaken following discussions between Tamim and BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon, who suggested Tamim share his expertise with the budding cricketers. Tamim, who last visited Mirpur before the New Zealand series, took the opportunity to hand over the bats and engage with the youth coach, Wasim Zafar-Stuart Law.
The Bangladesh U-19 team, led by Mahfuzur Rahman Rabi, will continue practicing before departing for South Africa on the night of January 7. The Youth World Cup is scheduled to commence on January 19.
