On Thursday (April 18), Mumbai saw their third win by defeating Punjab Kings by 9 runs. However, despite winning the match, one of the most successful teams in the IPL could not finish the over at the stipulated time. Due to which captain Hardik Pandya has been fined. Hardik has to pay a fine of 12 lakh rupees due to slow over rate.
In a statement, the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) announced Hardik's fine. "Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya has been fined due to his slow over rate against Punjab Kings at Mullanpur," they said in the notification.
This is the first time in this season that Mumbai has been hit by a slow over rate. Because of which minimum punishment is given. BCCI's comment in this regard, 'as this is the first time his team has broken the IPL code of conduct. Therefore, Hardik has been fined Rs 12 lakh as the minimum punishment.
The Mumbai captain bowled well in the match. Especially in the 19th over. Hardik, who conceded just four runs in the first three balls, got the wicket of Harpreet Brar in the fourth ball. Rabada sealed the match with a six off the fifth ball. However, Mumbai won when Rabada was run out in the first ball of the last over.
